I don’t care who your team is.
If you can’t bring yourself to be a fan of Brett Favre as a football player after this, you’re just no fan of the game of football.
This man is true example of humility and selflessness, and is a monument to what football is meant to be.

I’m guessing that’s his farewell news conference… very good stuff. I always liked the guy, just hated what he represented.

I must not have the right plug-ins or something cuz I couldn’t get it to work. But I love the photo you used – makes me all emotional and I pretty much despise football.

I listened to a lot of the conference while working yesterday. A lot of athletes could learn from his example.
Like Darius, I have always appreciated Favre’s play (even more so when he threw an INT) and approach to the game. I think the past season and the SI article elevated that appreciation a little more.
SKOL Vikings!

Now that Farve is retired I will publicly admit that I like him. Something to take not of is the idolatry that is rampant in our culture. Farve is being worshipped like a football god.
My own attachment to sports has lessened significantly over the past few years because I realized that at times I was more passionate about the Vikings than I was about the mission of God or even God himself.
I admire Brett, but lets remember he is a man who played a kids game and in the grand scheme of things football means very little.

Favre — What a blubbering sissy! So much for the warrior of the frozen tundra. He needs to man-up a little the next time he tries to give a speech.
(I couldn’t resist)

I agree with Steve E. In the media, Favre is the love child of John Madden and Pat Summerall.

That column is brilliant. About time someone told the truth in the media. He is by FAR the most overrated QB of all-time. He’s a good quarterback, but not great and by no means in the top 5.

Ragnar,
Man up and say who you are if you’re going to Favre-bash here. Wuss.
Darius,
You’re just flat out wrong. Man, are Vikings fans jealous.

Seriously? You don’t think he is the most over-rated, over-praised, over-deified QB in history??? The guy hasn’t done anything but choke in big games in the last decade, yet Madden still talks like Favre is his personal god.

even though I am a long suffering Vikes fan, I do admit Favre is one the greats…..BUT, I don’t understand the blubber fest on TV. It is one thing to get emotional, but for a guy who is going out on top, has major dough in the bank, is not even forty, etc etc etc, he should have composed himself. I didn’t see Patrick Swayze doing that on national TV…..
