Our Son

We are rejoicing and worshiping God tonight for His gift of Owen Stanley William McWhite.

Owen was born at 1:35pm on August 10th, weighing 7 lbs, 14 oz. He is very strong, which he demonstrated as he fought off nurse after nurse who foolishly tried to give him a bath (the picture to the right captures him defiantly insisting, “Hands off, lady!”). He also inherited his dad’s enormous feet. The nurses, evidently still smarting from their failed attempts to bathe him, were laughing at him because his feet were longer than the box that he was supposed to record his footprints in.

Our prayer for our son is that he would have the warm and kind heart of his grandpa William (my dad), the strength and genuine love and warmth of his great-grandpa Stanley (Leslie’s grandfather) and, above all, the deep delight in communion with God and the passionate desire for holiness and purity of John Owen (one of his dad’s favorite pastors and writers).

  1. Congratulations to you both! We are so happy for you and know that you will be amazing parents to this beautiful little boy. I hope to meet him someday!

    Love,

  2. I am filled with excitement at the news of Owen’s birth! Way to go Leslie, you did it! Pete and I looked at your son’s picture and commented to each other, “Wow, was Daniel ever that small!?” What a precious time this is. Owen sure is a cutie with those great big eyes…of course we haven’t seen the feet yet but…I’m sure they are adorable.

    Love and Prayers,

Joy(Pete & Daniel send their congrats too:)

  3. Bryan and Leslie

    Congratulations! He is beautiful!

As a part of your church family I will claim 3 John verse 3 for Owen.

Father, we have no greater joy than to see Owen walking in Your truth.

    In His Arms,
    Beth

  4. Congratulations on your first born! He is blessed to be raised in a godly home. He will soon have a long distance playmate…maybe they will grow up and go to seminary together and explore God’s creation as they hike along side each other. That would be neat!
    God’s blessings!

  5. Congrats! Elisabeth noticed that Owen has the same measurements as Amara did when she was born. Except I don’t recall her having gigantic feet…

  6. Congratulations, Leslie & Bryan!! He looks to be a happy baby already…so many pictures show him with a smile….my 2nd oldest was “smiling” his first few days & was the most easy-going of all 4.

    God bless your precious family!!
    Love, Connie
